How do you use a spill kit?

A Quick guide for instructions on how to use your general purpose Spill Kit

1. Identify the spill

  • Check the Safety Data Sheet (SDS)
  • Stop the leak at the source if possible

3. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Select PPE appropriate to the chemical or liquid type.

4. Contain & Absorb the Spill

  • Contain spill using socks or booms/ berms
  • Cover the liquid with absorbent pads or mats
  • Finish with granular absorbent.

5. Collect & Dispose

  • Dispose of used absorbents and PPE in the provided disposal bags.
  • Seal and label waste as per workplace or EPA disposal regulations.

What liquids are suitable for Oil & Fuel Spill Kits?

Hydrocarbons, oil, fuel. Cannot be used on water as they are hydrophobic materials.
